Property for sale in Turkey attracts foreign buyers for reasons that do not always survive contact with the process, so it is worth separating the purchase from the paperwork. Buying is open to most nationalities, transactions settle in the land registry rather than through a lengthy conveyancing chain, and a government valuation report is mandatory before transfer. What catches people out is everything around that: the tax number, the currency conversion certificate, military clearance on the plot, earthquake insurance, and the difference between a title deed for a completed building and one for land with construction servitude.
